How DAV helped Leah Nicholls

Says Leah: I’ll be honest — I don’t think the military focuses on the life skills needed when service members are transitioning out. They don’t tell us how the corporate world works, and we don’t have easy access to the tools, resources, and connections we need to succeed long-term. It’s a big problem, one that DAV is working hard to solve.

When I heard a commercial about a DAV All Veterans Career Fair in the area, I decided to attend, and I met my future employer, Chris Roussos of Epic Health Services. He spoke my language, and he got the value veterans bring to the table.

Connecting veterans with meaningful employment is part of DAV’s mission to empower veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. For me, finding a meaningful job was the key to my post-service life. For others, it may be getting back on their feet financially, fighting the VA for every benefit they are owed, or working toward legislative justice on Capitol Hill. DAV does it all, and it’s thanks to their generous donors.
